Passages the fulfillment tradition reads as a type or foreshadowing of the Messiah — a person, an event, or an institution (a Passover lamb, a bronze serpent, a priest-king) that it sees, in retrospect, as prefiguring him. A typological reading is not a claim that the passage predicts the Messiah: it looks back from the New Testament and finds a pattern, where the counter-reading takes each passage on its own terms, in its own setting. Grouped here because they share this way of being read — not a single theme.
