Contradictions
Readers have long noticed places where the Bible seems to say two different things — about when something happened, who did it, or what the rule is. This section gathers those questions, sets the passages on each side together, and shows the answers people have offered. For each one it also reports where scholarship tends to land — sometimes on a contradiction, sometimes on a reconciliation, sometimes genuinely divided. GEBible reaches no verdict of its own; it shows you the texts, and the readings, and lets you weigh them.

Three honest ways to read these tensions
-
As a genuine contradiction
Two passages make claims that can’t both be literally true at once. Read this way, the difference is real and worth naming.
-
As harmonizable
The apparent conflict dissolves once you read the passages in context — different times, senses, or speakers. This is the path most apologetic answers take.
-
As different sources or genres
The texts come from different authors, traditions, or kinds of writing, placed side by side. Read this way, the seam is a feature of how the Bible was composed.
These are three honest ways to read a tension, and GEBible doesn’t pick one of them as the rule. But it doesn’t force a tie either: each entry reports where scholarship tends to land on that particular question — and where a strong case for harmony exists, it’s set out beside the critical reading, each given its strongest form. The weighing is still yours.
