Was Jechoniah the son or the grandson of Josiah?
Matthew 1:11 says "Josias begat Jechonias" — making Jeconiah the direct son of Josiah. 1 Chronicles 3:15-16 says Josiah's sons were Johanan, Jehoiakim, Zedekiah, and Shallum, and then names Jeconiah as the son of Jehoiakim — making him Josiah's grandson, not his son.
Critical scholarship: Widely regarded as a genuine contradiction.
