Did Asa remove the high places?
2 Chronicles 14:3-5 says Asa took away the high places out of all the cities of Judah. 1 Kings 15:14 and 2 Chronicles 15:17 say the high places were not removed during Asa's reign, even though his heart was perfect with the LORD.

Was Asa perfect?
1 Kings 15:14 and 2 Chronicles 15:17 both declare that "the heart of Asa was perfect with the Lord all his days." 2 Chronicles 16:7-10 then narrates Asa relying on the king of Syria instead of Yahweh, being rebuked by the prophet Hanani, throwing the prophet in prison, and "oppressing some of the people" in his rage.
