Deuteronomy 31:9 and 1:1 attribute the Mosaic law to Moses, and the historical Christian and Jewish position has been Mosaic authorship of the entire Pentateuch. But Numbers 12:3 calls Moses the meekest man on the face of the earth — a claim it would be bizarre for Moses to write about himself — and Deuteronomy 34 narrates Moses' death, also implausibly self-authored.
Critical scholarship: Widely regarded as a genuine contradiction.
