Genesis 1:29 has God giving the humans 'every herb bearing seed' and 'every tree' with seed-bearing fruit for food, without restriction. Genesis 2:17 places one tree explicitly off-limits: the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

What kind of animals may we eat?
The canon gives four different answers to what humans are allowed to eat. Genesis 1:29 gives a strictly vegetarian menu in Eden.

Were plants created before or after humans?
Genesis 1:11-13 creates vegetation on day three, before humans arrive on day six. Genesis 2:4-9 has God forming the man first, then planting the garden and causing every tree to grow, placing plants after the human.
