Who is the most blessed woman?
Gabriel tells Mary in Luke 1:28 that she is 'blessed among women.' The Song of Deborah (Judg 5:24) calls Jael 'blessed above women' for driving a tent peg through Sisera's skull.

Was Mary blessed?
Luke 1:28 has Gabriel greet Mary as "blessed... among women," and Luke 1:42 has Elisabeth repeat the blessing. Luke 11:27-28 has a woman pronounce blessed the womb that bore Jesus, and Jesus replies, "Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it," redirecting the blessing away from his mother specifically.
Critical scholarship: Leans toward reconciliation.
