Psalm 89:35-37 records God's oath, sworn by his holiness, that David's seed shall endure forever and his throne be established as the sun and moon — a faithful witness in heaven. Eight verses later, the same psalm — Psalm 89:44 — says God has "made his glory to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground."
