Yahweh, how many are your works! In wisdom, you have made them all. The earth is full of your riches.
Every organism on Earth was wisely and deliberately engineered.

What current science says
The river blindness parasite (Onchocerca volvulus) is transmitted by blackflies and causes irreversible blindness in roughly 1.15 million people, mostly children in sub-Saharan Africa. The malaria parasite kills over 600,000 people per year — two-thirds of them children under 5. Cordyceps fungi hijack ant brains and burst out of their skulls. These organisms exist because natural selection rewards anything that successfully reproduces, regardless of the suffering it causes. Evolution has no wisdom, no plan, and no mercy. It just works.
What the text says
This comes from Psalms 104:24. 'In wisdom hast thou made them all' — the text claims every living thing was created with intentional wisdom, which logically includes the parasites, pathogens, and predators that cause immense suffering.
Three honest ways to read this passage
-
As history
The text records how its authors understood the world with the knowledge they had. Read this way, a difference from modern science is a window into the ancient mind, not a failure.
-
As accommodation
The text speaks to its first audience in their own terms, to make a point that isn't mainly about physics or biology. Read this way, the scientific detail is the vehicle, not the cargo.
-
As contradiction
The text makes a claim about the physical world that modern findings dispute. Read this way, the difference is a genuine factual disagreement worth naming.
GEBible doesn't pick one of these for you. Each entry shows the passage, what it says, and what current science says — nothing more.
