What current science says

About 9 million people die of hunger or hunger-related diseases every year. In the animal kingdom, it's even grimmer: the vast majority of organisms born never reach adulthood. A single cod can lay up to 9 million eggs — and nearly all of those offspring will be eaten before they're a week old. Parasitic infections affect roughly 2 billion people worldwide. The average wild animal's life is nasty, brutish, and short. If every desire is being satisfied, someone lost the spreadsheet.

What the text says

This comes from Psalms 145:16. 'Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing' — asserting that all creatures get what they need.
