The parasitic wasp Ampulex compressa turns cockroaches into zombies by injecting venom directly into their brains. The filarial worm Onchocerca volvulus causes river blindness by releasing larvae that migrate to the eyes. These organisms evolved through natural selection — blind, purposeless adaptation over millions of years. Attributing them to intentional benevolent design creates a logical problem that Darwin himself noted: 'I cannot persuade myself that a beneficent and omnipotent God would have designedly created the Ichneumonidae.'
