11. Ludim] reckoned in Jer_46:9 and Eze_30:5 (R.V. “Lud”) among the auxiliary troops of Egypt; they are no doubt the Lydians. Gyges of Lydia in the seventh century b.c. helped to make Egypt independent by sending forces to help Psammetichus; and Lydians were permanently retained in the bodyguard of the Egyptian king. See also 1Ch_1:17, note on Lud. Of the Anamim, Lehabim, and Naphtuhim, nothing is certainly known.
