Maaziah.—Here only. Perhaps “Maadiah” (Neh_12:5) should be read. So Syriac, “Ma’adyâ;” Arabic, “Mi’diyyâ.” But LXX. (Vat.), “Maasai” (? Maaseiah); Vuig., “Maaziau.”

Delaiah Maaziah. The spelling of the former of these names, as it appears here and in Jer_36:12, Jer_36:25, differs by the addition of a shurek (W) from the name, spelt the same in the English Version, found in 1Ch_3:24; Neh_6:10 Neh_7:62; Ezr_2:60. The latter name recurs in Neh_10:8, etc., though without a final shurek.
