That stone remains to this day in the field of Joshua of Beth Shemesh. He struck of the men of Beth Shemesh, because they had looked into Yahweh’s ark, he struck fifty thousand seventy of the men. Then the people mourned, because Yahweh had struck the people with a great slaughter.

Beth-shemesh] Jos_15:10; 1Sa_6:9; 2Ki_14:11; 2Ki_14:13 (= 2Ch_25:21; 2Ch_25:23). A town in the S.W. of Judah, now ‘Ain Shems, situated at the point at which the hill-country of Judah begins, as one goes by the railway from Jaffa to Jerusalem (Bädeker, p. 13).
