A lying spirit.—A spirit of falsehood. (Comp. Isa_11:2; Isa_19:14; Eze_14:9 : “And the prophet, if he be deceived, and speak a word, it is I, Jehovah, who have deceived that prophet.” The verb “deceive” is that which is rendered “entice” here and in 2Ch_18:19, pittah. LXX., Ἀπατήσεις (See also 2Th_2:11.)
