a nation mightier and greater] Expansion of great nation, Exo_32:10. This whole v. is illustrative of the expansive style of D. Bertholet sees the immediate continuation of the v. in Deu_10:10 and points out how excellently Deu_9:15 follows on Deu_9:12. This would account for the omission of Moses’ first intercession while still on the Mount, Exo_32:11-14.
