For there will be a day of Yahweh of Armies for all that is proud and arrogant, and for all that is lifted up; and it shall be brought low:

Ver. 12. For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud.] These he "knoweth afar off"; {Psa 138:6} these he "resisteth" as it were in battle array; {Jas 4:6} these he "casteth down to the ground." {Psa 147:6} One of the seven wise men of Greece said that God made it his business to humble the proud, and to lift up the lowly.
