Ver. 5. Because Syria, Ephraim, &c.] This was the fruit of their fury fuming out at their noses, {Isa 7:4} and proving like smoke, which the higher it riseth, the sooner it vanisheth; or like the bubbles blown up into the air by children, into whose eyes they soon fall back again.
