Ver. 16. That they should not make him known] This, his ambitious kinsmen, who sought to get credit and glory among men by his worthy works, upbraid him with, Joh 7:4; "If thou do these things, show thyself to the world," say they; and so proclaim that they believed not in him, Joh 7:7; cf Joh 5:44; Joh 12:43.
