Anathoth was on the road from Geba to Jerusalem, (Isa_10:30) and was a Levitical city. (Jos_21:18) Nob was still nearer to the capital, which could be seen from it. (Isa_10:32) It was famous for the massacre of the priests by Doeg. (1Sa_22:18, 1Sa_22:19) Ananiah is mentioned only in this place.
