Their names have apparently for brevity’s sake been omitted; they were undoubtedly recorded like the names of the priestly trumpeters in the other procession (Neh_12:41).
namely, Zechariah] R.V. omits namely. Zechariah, of the family of Mattaniah, seems to have led the house of Asaph. His company was quite distinct from that of the young trumpeters. This was the company of singers corresponding to that in Neh_12:42.

Certain of the priests" sons with trumpets. Compare ver. 41. A body of priests, who blew trumpets, accompanied each procession, following closely upon the "princes," and followed by a body of Levites. Namely, Zechariah. There is nothing corresponding to "namely" in the original; and it is clear that Zechariah was not a "priest"s son," but a Levite, since he was descended from Asaph. Probably a vau conjunctive has fallen out before his name.
