    Proverbs 17:22 and Ecclesiastes 8:15 commend merriment as medicinal and as the best thing humans can do under the sun. Ecclesiastes 7:3-4 and Luke 6:25 reverse the valuation — sorrow is better than laughter, the wise heart is in the house of mourning, and woe to those who laugh now.
