Is childbearing sinful?
Genesis 1:28 and parallel passages command humanity to 'be fruitful and multiply,' framing reproduction as divine mandate. Leviticus 12:6-7 requires a new mother to bring a sin offering to make atonement for herself after childbirth, implying bearing a child renders her ritually impure in a way that needs sacrificial cleansing.
