Matthew 21:5-7 has Jesus ride into Jerusalem on two animals — a donkey and a colt — with the disciples laying garments on both and Jesus sitting on 'them.' Mark 11:7 and Luke 19:35 have him ride a single colt.
Critical scholarship: Widely regarded as a genuine contradiction.

On the day that Jesus rode into Jerusalem, did Jesus ask his disciples to get one animal or two?
Matthew 21:1-7 has Jesus dispatch two disciples to fetch *an ass and her colt*, and the disciples bring back both animals; Matthew even depicts Jesus sitting on the garments laid across both. Mark 11:1-7 and Luke 19:28-35 mention only a single colt.
