Was Jesus silent during his trial before Pilate?
Matthew 27:12-14 and Mark 15:3-5 have Jesus go silent in front of Pilate — refusing to answer the chief priests, refusing to answer a word, until Pilate himself marvels at how thoroughly Jesus is stonewalling. John 18:33-37 has Jesus and Pilate engage in a full theological back-and-forth about kingship, kingdoms of this world, and bearing witness to the truth.
