How should the Ammonites be treated?
Deuteronomy 2:19 and 2:37 forbid Israel from invading or seizing Ammonite land, because Yahweh assigned that land to the descendants of Lot. Judges 11:32 has Jephthah pass over to fight the Ammonites and slaughter them, and Jeremiah 49:2 has Yahweh promising Rabbah will become 'a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire.'
