  • How did God address Jesus at his baptism?

    Mark 1:11 and Luke 3:22 have the heavenly voice address Jesus directly in the second person: 'You are my beloved Son' (*sy ei ho huios mou ho agapētos*). Matthew 3:17 has the voice address the crowd in the third person: 'This is my beloved Son' (*houtos estin ho huios mou ho agapētos*).

    Critical scholarship: Widely regarded as a genuine contradiction.
