Did Jesus forewarn the apostles of his death and resurrection?
The Synoptic Gospels record Jesus making at least three explicit, detailed passion predictions to the disciples (Matt 16:21; 17:22-23; 20:18-19; Mark 8:31; 9:31; 10:33-34; Luke 9:22; 9:44; 18:31-33) — each one specifying betrayal, condemnation, death, and resurrection on the third day. John 20:9 then says, after the resurrection, "For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead."

How long was Jesus in the tomb?
Matthew 12:40 has Jesus predicting he will be "three days and three nights in the heart of the earth" — a precise duration of 72 hours, paralleling Jonah in the fish. But the passion narratives uniformly have Jesus crucified Friday afternoon (the day of preparation) and discovered risen Sunday morning.
