Which woman besought Jesus?
Matthew 15:22 identifies the woman who asked Jesus to exorcise her daughter as "a woman of Canaan" (gyne Chananaia). Mark 7:26, the source text Matthew is editing, identifies her as "Greek, a Syrophoenician by nation" (Hellenis, Syrophoinikissa to genei).
