What were the last words of Jesus?
Matthew 27:46-50 (following Mark 15:34-37) has Jesus die crying out the cry of dereliction — *Eli Eli lama sabachthani*, 'my God my God why hast thou forsaken me.' Luke 23:46 has him die with a serene self-commendation: 'Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.'
Critical scholarship: Widely regarded as a genuine contradiction.

When did the Temple veil rip?
Luke 23:45-46 puts the tearing of the temple veil before Jesus dies: the sun darkens, the veil rips, and then Jesus commends his spirit and gives up the ghost. Matthew 27:50-51 and Mark 15:37-38 reverse the sequence: Jesus cries out and dies first, and then the veil tears.
Critical scholarship: Leans toward a genuine contradiction.
