What current science says

These four phenomena have four completely unrelated physical causes. Lightning: electrical discharge from charge separation in clouds. Thunder: acoustic shock wave from superheated air around a lightning bolt. Earthquakes: mechanical stress release along tectonic faults deep underground. Hail: ice that forms when updrafts in thunderstorms carry water droplets above the freezing level. Lightning and thunder are related (thunder is a consequence of lightning), but neither is connected to earthquakes, and hail requires specific atmospheric conditions unrelated to seismic activity. Getting all four simultaneously from one cause would require something like a large asteroid impact — not opening a door.

What the text says

This comes from Revelation 11:19. The text describes a temple in heaven being opened, followed immediately by 'lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail' — all independent weather and geological events somehow triggered by opening a celestial container.
