Ezr 7:15 And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation [is] in Jerusalem,

Ver. 15. Which the king and his counsellors have freely offered] This king, as he had been well bred by his mother, Queen Esther, so he had likely been well instructed by Ezra in the knowledge of the God of heaven (as he calleth him), whose service he thus promoteth. So Origen wrought much upon Alexander Severus the emperor, by his sound doctrine and holy conversation; but especially upon his mother, Mammaea, who became a great friend to the persecuted Christians.
