Did Jesus have secret teachings?
Matthew 13:10-11, Mark 4:10-11, and Luke 8:9-10 all have Jesus tell the disciples that the parables function as a deliberate esoteric/exoteric distinction: "unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables." The disciples get the secrets; outsiders get coded speech.
Critical scholarship: Leans toward a genuine contradiction.
