How should adulterers be punished?
Leviticus 20:10 commands the execution of both the adulterer and the adulteress. The pericope adulterae in John 7:53-8:11 has Jesus refuse to condemn a woman caught in adultery and instead invite the sinless to throw the first stone — effectively suspending the death penalty.
