Did the Israelites take Jerusalem from the Jebusites?
Judges 1:8 reports that Judah captured Jerusalem, put it to the sword, and burned it. Just thirteen verses later, Judges 1:21 reports that Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites from Jerusalem and that the Jebusites still live there.
Critical scholarship: Widely regarded as a genuine contradiction.
