How should a man who has sex with a menstruating woman be punished?
Leviticus 15:24 says a man who has sex with a menstruating woman is unclean for seven days, with no further consequence. Leviticus 20:18 says both he and the woman "shall be cut off from among their people" — a severe penalty, often understood as karet, divine excision.
Critical scholarship: Widely regarded as a genuine contradiction.
