What current science says

Earth formed about 4.5 billion years ago from a swirling disc of gas and dust (the solar nebula) through a process called accretion — gravity pulling particles together, collisions building larger and larger bodies. No hands were involved. The 'heavens' (space) aren't stretched fabric — space itself is expanding, as Edwin Hubble discovered in 1929. This expansion is driven by dark energy and is accelerating. The observable universe is 93 billion light-years across, which would make for some impressively large hands — roughly a trillion trillion times the size of the largest known star.

What the text says

This comes from Isaiah 45:12. 'I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens' — the text describes a being who physically shaped the Earth with hands and stretched the heavens like cloth.
