What current science says

When your heart stops beating, your brain cells begin dying within 4 to 6 minutes from oxygen deprivation. Within hours, cells throughout the body undergo autolysis — they literally digest themselves with their own enzymes. Rigor mortis sets in, bacteria from your gut begin breaking down your organs, and your DNA starts degrading. CPR and defibrillators can sometimes restart a heart that just stopped, but that's resuscitation, not reversing death — and it only works within a very narrow time window. Once decomposition begins, there's nothing left to restart.

What the text says

This comes from Matthew 10:8. The text instructs followers to 'raise the dead' as a routine task, listed alongside healing the sick and cleansing lepers — treating the reversal of death as a straightforward ability.
