What current science says

Fevers are your immune system's response to infection — your body deliberately raises its temperature to fight off bacteria or viruses. Breaking a fever requires your immune system to actually defeat the pathogen, which takes days. Even modern antipyretics like ibuprofen only reduce the fever temporarily while your body keeps fighting. Instant recovery from a fever with no medication would mean the underlying infection just vanished, which isn't how pathogens work — they don't flee from a handshake.

What the text says

This comes from Mark 1:30-31. A woman 'sick of a fever' is healed when her hand is touched, and she immediately gets up and starts serving food — zero recovery time from what could have been any number of serious febrile illnesses.
