Earth has no foundations. It's a 5.97 × 10²⁴ kg ball of rock and metal suspended in the vacuum of space, held in solar orbit purely by gravity. There's nothing under the Earth — no pillars, no platform, no turtle (despite what Discworld fans might hope). Earth's orbit isn't even fixed: gravitational interactions with Jupiter and other planets cause small orbital variations over millions of years (Milankovitch cycles). The entire solar system is also slowly spiraling inward in the Milky Way. Everything is moving, nothing is founded, and the only thing keeping Earth in place is the invisible tug of a star 150 million km away.
